Unfortunately, the Fair Stone logo is sometimes misused. Only European natural stone traders who are Fair Stone partners can use the logo to participate in tenders that require an independent seal. It may also happen that Fair Stone partners offer products that do not come from registered quarries and factories, or for which the Fair Stone logo is not yet permitted because the prerequisites are not met. Please pay attention to the Fair Stone Partner Information on our website and use the QR-Code placed on certificates to check in realtime. Please report any suspected cases to us so we can rule out possible misuse.
How is it guaranteed that the right products are labeled Fair Stone?
The Fair Stone label marks products and materials, not factories. The factories and quarries implement the criteria to improve the working conditions. Not all materials that are produced in one factory come from traceable sources. Only if the material is traceable and the quarry source registered and visited, can these materials be labelled. If quarry access is not enabled or other issues prevent a visit and registration, the certification covers FactoryOnly/fo. This is also TFS2 and the respective FS Partner Certificate.
Before a factory is registered with Fair Stone, the factory management has to fill out the Supplier Agreement. Next to general information on the factory and the workers, all materials and products that are produced in the factory and shall be labelled have to be provided. The factory manager confirms that all information is correct. He agrees to adhere to ILO Core Labor Conventions and to constantly improve the working conditions. The veracity of this information is confirmed during the initial registration audit.
The Fair Stone Partner receives a certificate documenting the commitment for better working conditions and listing all registered material. Only listed materials can be entered into the Tracing Fair Stone/TFS2 software and receive labels and barcodes, one per Packaging Unit/PU. Certificates contain an QR-Code which allows for a check of the FS Partner status in real time.
